Micellar Casein Protein

Post by GavinParkPT »

Micellar Casein Protein is a popular protein supplement derived from milk. It's known for its slow digestion rate, making it an excellent choice for sustained protein release2. Here are some key benefits and details:

Benefits:

Slow Digestion: Micellar casein forms a gel in the stomach, which slows its digestion and absorption. This provides a steady stream of amino acids to your muscles over an extended period.
Muscle Growth: It's particularly beneficial for muscle growth and recovery, especially when consumed before bed. The slow release of amino acids helps prevent muscle breakdown during sleep.
Reduced Hunger: The slow digestion also helps in reducing appetite and keeping you feeling full for longer periods.
Complete Protein: Like whey, casein is a complete protein, meaning it contains all nine essential amino acids your body needs.
Supports Bone Health: It's a good source of calcium, which is essential for maintaining healthy bones.

Usage:

Dosage: The typical dosage is around 25-30 grams per serving, but it's best to follow the recommendations on the supplement packaging or consult with a healthcare professional.
Timing: Often taken before bed to support muscle recovery and growth overnight.

Forms:

Powder: The most common form, which can be mixed with water, milk, or added to smoothies and other recipes.

Ready-to-Drink: Some brands offer ready-to-drink shakes for convenience.

Slow digesting proteins are amazing before bed and on days you don't train.

I generally use cottage cheese and a scoop of chocolate micellar casein protein powder to keep hunger at bay at night time right before bed.
