Beef Stroganoff is a rich, creamy, and comforting dish that's perfect for a cozy dinner. Here's a classic recipe to try:
Beef Stroganoff Recipe
Ingredients:
1 pound (450g) beef sirloin or tenderloin, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons butter
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
8 ounces (225g) mushrooms, sliced
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 cup beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/2 cup sour cream
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Cooked egg noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes (for serving)
Instructions:
Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
Sauté Onions and Garlic: In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
Cook Mushrooms: Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they release their juices and become tender, about 5-7 minutes.
Make the Sauce: Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir to combine. Gradually add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard, stirring constantly to prevent lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
Add Sour Cream: Reduce the heat to low and stir in the sour cream. Return the cooked beef to the skillet and stir to coat with the sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the beef is heated through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve: Garnish with chopped parsley and serve the beef stroganoff over cooked egg noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes.
